I am a criminal defense attorney licensed to practice in the State of Washington. I currently reside in San Diego, California, but am an active member of the Washington State Bar Association. I defended persons accused of misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, and felonies in Washington State courts for over 5 years. As a former public defense attorney, I have over five years of experience defending hundreds of criminal cases. I have independently taken over 20 cases to trial in Washington State District and Superior courts, including Assault in the Third Degree, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in the First Degree, Rape of a Child in the Second Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Stolen Property in the First Degree, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute while armed with a Deadly Weapon, as well as numerous Assault in the Fourth Degree Domestic Violence, and Driving Under the Influence (DUI) charges.
I have argued many appeals from District Court to the Superior Court in King and Snohomish counties. I have also argued a Motion for Discretionary Review to the Court of Appeals, Division One in Seattle.
I graduated from the Seattle University School of Law with my J.D. magna cum laude. I was a Note & Comment Editor of the Seattle University Law Review. I am a member in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association. I am also a member of the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (WACDL).
I was an associate attorney with the Law Office of Zachary L. Fleet in Seattle, Washington, for over one year. I was an attorney with the Snohomish County Public Defender Association in Everett, Washington. I handled felonies and misdemeanors. I also worked as a public defender for the cities of Shoreline and Lake Forest Park. I worked as a Rule 9 Intern with The Defender Association in Seattle, Washington. During law school, I externed for The Honorable Marsha J. Pechman in the Western District of Washington for six months.
I especially love the challenge of writing great legal motions and the impact that good writing can have on trial practice. In my work, I looked for opportunities to utilize the power of persuasive legal writing to challenge evidence, to win cases for my clients, or just to better negotiate successful outcomes. I especially enjoy cases involving searches and seizures or emerging legal issues.
While I am not currently taking new cases in Washington State, I am happy to refer your case to many other criminal defense attorneys in the Greater Seattle area (including all of King County, Snohomish County, and Pierce County).
